National Security Asia 2024

NATSEC Asia 2024, also known as National Security Asia 2024, was the third edition of a global exhibition centred on national security in Asia. The event was arranged by the team responsible for the Defence Services Asia (DSA) series of exhibitions. It occurred concurrently with the 18th Edition of DSA 2024, from May 6 to May 9, 2024, at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur.

The exhibition included more than 100 participating companies and emphasised the display of state-of-the-art hardware and electronics specifically designed for the security industry. The technologies included:

·           Police equipment.

·           Battlefield healthcare systems.

·           Sea-based platform systems and equipment.

·           Training and simulation systems.

NATSEC Asia, a prominent event in the field of national security, sought to position itself as a specialist exposition by using DSA's highly recognised VIP delegation management system. The event was presented as a dedicated assembly focused on national security, drawing in many delegates during its course and highlighting the vital role of each participant in the security domain.

This unique and specialised involvement illuminated local issues and established mutually beneficial alliances to enhance national and international security. The event included diverse activities and presentations by distinguished individuals and experts in military and security. In addition, Universiti Malaya also participated in exhibiting cutting-edge research by Professor Ir Dr Ubagaram Johnson Alengaram. He presented his research product on the “Structural Grade Bricks and Lightweight Zero-Cement Pavement Blocks used in Model Green House project”. This project is the first cement-free geopolymer concrete built for housing bus drivers at the UM campus. The second project presented was “Blast and Impact Resistant Oil Palm Shell Concrete”. His project used oil palm shell material to make concrete that resists explosive pressures, which attracted many visitors.

Both events were exclusive and required attendance invites. The itinerary for the first day, May 6, includes several activities. The events scheduled for the day were the Putrajaya Forum, held from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM, the exhibition opening from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, the launching of the RMN 15to5 Transformation Programme Realignment at noon, and the Opening Ceremony by Prime Minister YAB Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM. After these occurrences, there were continuous courtesy visits and an Official Counterpart Dinner in the evening. During the event's second day on May 7, a wide variety of activities were available. The program included cybercrime, drug addiction awareness, and national security courses, as well as chances to engage in meet-and-greet sessions, explore the exhibition, and participate in a Pocket Talk on Women.

The day ended with more courtesy visits and another official counterpart dinner. On May 8, the event's third day, the program began with specialised recreational events for distinguished attendees, including a golf tournament and a shooting competition. Subsequently, there was an exhibition, a meeting following the Cabinet session, the signing of contracts and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), and courtesy calls. Many events took place on the last day of the event, which took place on May 9. These activities included a NAICO - IEM Networking Session, an exhibition, a Thank You Reception, and ongoing courtesy calls. A Lounge Suit was prescribed attire for the Official Reception held on May 5. Attendees of other activities held at the exhibition venue were required to wear their agency uniforms or lounge suits if they were civilians.
