ITEX 2023: 2 Special Awards, 5 Gold Awards And 2 Silver Awards

Researchers from Universiti Malaya managed to garner 5 gold and 2 silver awards in addition to the Tun Lim Kek Yaik Award and President's Award during the International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition (ITEX) 2023 held in KLCC from 11-12 May 2023.

Researchers from Universiti Malaya managed to garner 5 gold and 2 silver awards in addition to the Tun Lim Kek Yaik Award and ITEX 2023 President’s Award during the International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition (ITEX) 2023 held in KLCC from 11-12 May 2023.

Prof. Ramesh T. Subramaniam and his team of researchers from the Faculty of Science bagged both the Gold Award and Tun Lim Kek Yaik Award with the prize money of RM 1,000.00 for best invention in technology reversing climate change for their work on The Role of Natural Resources in Energy Devices for Carbon Neutrality and Dr. Adeed Hayyan and his team from Faculty of Engineering won ITEX 2023 President’s Award and silver award for the invention titled ‘Revealing of nanomaterials and green solvent for antibacterial and enzymatic enhancement with aid of AI tools’. Dr Woo Haw Jiunn and his team from the Faculty of Science bagged a Gold Award for their work on Advanced Rechargeable Batteries to Power Up Sustainable Smart Cities. Prof. IR. Dr. U. Johnson Alengaram and Assoc. Prof. IR. Dr. Adeline Chua Seak May, both bagged a Gold Award each with their team members from the Faculty of Engineering for their project titled First Cement-free Geopolymer Concrete House Constructed in Malaysia Using Low-Carbon Footprint Material for Bus Drivers and Downflow Sponge Biofilm (DSB) Reactor Technology: Energy-saving and Cost-effective Innovation and Wastewater Treatment, respectively. The Gold Award recipient from the Faculty of Medicine is Dr. Wong Kah Hui and team for their work on Tackling Movement Disorders with NevGro®.

Dr. Desmond Teck Chye Ang and team from the Faculty of Science received a Silver Award for the work on Oxo-biodegradable Rubber: Innovation for A Greener Future. Dr. Adeeb Hayyan and team from the Faculty of Engineering were also the recipients of a Silver Award for their project Revealing of Nanomaterials and Green Solvent for Antibacterial and Enzymatic Enhancement with the Aid of AI Tools.

ITEX largely works attracting the science and technology industry to explore new business ventures by capitalizing on variants of specialization and talents including researchers, innovators, investors, venture capitalists, manufacturers, entrepreneurs, distributors, and the corporate sectors. ITEX provides a platform of interaction for academia while also encouraging commercialization of innovations.
